Connecting CoPost to Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini (MCP)
Connect your AI assistant to CoPost so it can create and schedule posts, manage Brand Spaces and generate images from a normal conversation.
You can connect Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini to your CoPost account. Once connected, you can ask your assistant to create a post, schedule content or pull up a Brand Space, and it works directly in your account.
This works through CoPost's MCP server (MCP is the standard way AI assistants connect to other apps). Setup takes about a minute and only needs doing once.
ℹ️ AI assistant connections and API keys are included on the Creator, Creator Pro and Teams plans.
Connecting your assistant
- In CoPost, go to Manage > Integrations and open the AI Assistant (MCP) tab.
- Click the assistant you use. CoPost shows you the steps for that assistant, along with your MCP server URL (https://mcp.copost.io/mcp) and the name to give the connector.
- Follow the steps below for your assistant.
Claude
- Click Open Claude. This opens Claude's screen for adding a custom connector, and copies your server URL for you.
- Enter the name and paste the URL. You can copy both from CoPost.
- Click Add, then Connect. Claude sends you to a CoPost page to approve access.
- Check the page shows your CoPost account, then approve the connection.
ChatGPT
- Turn on Developer mode in ChatGPT. Click Open ChatGPT settings in CoPost to go straight there. ChatGPT keeps custom connectors behind this setting, and you only need to do this once.
- Click Add connector in CoPost. This opens ChatGPT's connector screen and copies your server URL.
- Enter the name, paste the URL and save.
- Check the CoPost page shows your account, then approve the connection.
Gemini
- Check you have Gemini Spark. Custom apps need a Google AI Pro or Ultra plan and a personal Google account (not Google Workspace).
- Click Open Gemini in CoPost. This opens your custom apps in Gemini and copies your server URL.
- Under Custom apps for Spark, paste the URL. Gemini only asks for the URL and registers itself.
- Check the CoPost page shows your account, then approve the connection.
The approval page
Whichever assistant you use, you'll land on a CoPost page saying [assistant] wants to access your CoPost account. Make sure you're signed in to the right CoPost account, then click Approve. Click Deny if you didn't start this.
If the page says This request has expired, go back to your assistant and start the connection again.
What you can ask your assistant
Once connected, try things like:
- "Create a post for my bakery brand about our new sourdough and schedule it for Friday at 9am."
- "What posts do I have scheduled next week?"
- "Generate an image for a summer sale post."
- "List my Brand Spaces."
Your assistant can create and schedule posts, manage Brand Spaces and generate images. If you have more than one Brand Space, tell it which one to use.
Managing connected assistants
The AI Assistant (MCP) tab shows each connected assistant, when it was connected and when it was last active.
To remove an assistant's access, click Disconnect next to it and confirm. You can also remove the connector from inside the assistant's own settings.
API keys for developers
If you're building your own integration, or your tool needs a key rather than signing in, use the API/MCP Keys tab on the Integrations page:
- Click Generate Key.
- Give the key a name that tells you what it's for.
- Copy the key straight away. This is the only time you'll be able to see it. Store it somewhere safe.
To stop a key working, click Revoke next to it. Any app using that key loses access immediately.
